Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows Dr. Gandhi to examine the inside of your digestive tract using a thin, flexible tube with a camera attached. Dr. Gandhi performs a variety of endoscopies depending on the area needing examination, including:<br>
• Colonoscopy: Examines the inner lining of your colon and rectum for abnormalities like polyps or cancer.
• Sigmoidoscopy: Similar to a colonoscopy, but focuses on the lower part of the colon (sigmoid colon)
• Upper endoscopy (EGD): Examines the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum (first part of the small intestine).
• ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography): Used to diagnose and treat problems in the bile ducts and pancreas.

Minimally invasive endoscopic procedures offer several advantages over traditional surgery:
• Smaller incisions: This leads to less pain and faster recovery times.
• Reduced risk of infection: Smaller incisions decrease the risk of infection compared to open surgery.
• Faster recovery: Patients typically recover much quicker from endoscopic procedures than traditional surgeries.

Several lifestyle modifications can significantly improve your digestive health:
• Maintain a healthy diet: Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Limit processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats.
• Stay hydrated: Drinking sufficient water throughout the day helps digestion and prevents constipation.
• Manage stress: Chronic stress can exacerbate digestive issues. Practice stress-relieving techniques like yoga or meditation.
• Exercise regularly: Regular physical activity can improve digestion and overall health.
• Get enough sleep: Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night for optimal gut health.
